CLASS TITLE:               CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

                                          (LEAD CUSTODIAN)

                                               

QUALIFICATIONS:               

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.

  2. Must meet Physical Performance Requirements for Custodian.
  3. Physical condition allows the lifting of heavy loads, including  lifting of tables, and chairs, moving of furniture, etc.                                             
  4. Has experience/training as a custodian.
  5. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:                            

To ensure the custodial supervision and work necessary to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.

 

BASIC FUNCTION:                

Supervise, organize, and participate in custodial and maintenance services; supervise and evaluate assigned custodial personnel.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Schedules, organizes, supervises custodial staff, and participates in a variety of custodial services.
  2. Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
  3. Develops and prepares cleaning and routine maintenance schedules and assignments; coordinates duties and assignments to assure effective operations.
  4. Actively checks for safety and cleanliness concerns and issues and takes steps to fix concerns.  
  5. Supervises and participates in the preparation of the facility for regular use and special functions.
  6. Makes long range plans for custodial and maintenance issues within building(s) assigned.
  7. Determines, recommends, and requisitions needed custodial supplies and equipment.
  8. Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports, including employee time and attendance records, inventory levels, facilities status, and work performed.
  9. Loads, unloads, and stores school supplies, materials and other items.
  10. Enforces compliance with occupational health and safety codes and standards.
  11. Supervises and participates in the cleaning and care of classrooms, restrooms, offices, showers, shops, related facilities, furniture and equipment, school grounds, walkways, and entrances.
  12. Promotes energy conservation, reporting inefficient practices to supervisor.
  13. Assures compliance with local laws and procedures regarding the storage and disposal of waste and chemicals. Reports to job site after regular work hours in the event of an emergency.
  14. Performs regular inspections for cleanliness and safety. Reports to supervisor on problem areas.
  15. Supervises and performs minor non-technical repairs; maintenance, adjustments to buildings, equipment and fixtures; reports repair and maintenance needs and assists maintenance personnel in making repairs as needed. Maintains record of performed maintenance.
  16. Maintains inventory of supplies, tools and equipment. Maintains equipment and machinery.  
  17.  Reports unauthorized or suspicious individuals on campus to appropriate personnel; turn lights on and off, unlocks and locks doors and gates; reports sanitation and safety issues and hazards; reports rules and safety violations to supervisor. Works with Principals to develop and carry out procedures for securing the facility, locking doors, etc.
  18. Participates in training activities as directed by supervisor.
  19. Reports to work even beyond normal working hours, when emergency situations occur such as snow removal, broken water pipes, electrical problems, etc.
  20. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by Principal, Director of Facilities and Grounds/Designee, and the Superintendent.   

 

 

TERM OF SERVICE:              

Salary and workdays/jobs to be established by the Board.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Strictly adheres to the Kentucky Certified Code of Ethics (704 KAR 20:680)
  2. Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
  3. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, written language, and hearing
  4. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light objects and students up to 100 lbs
