TITLE: MUSICAL ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Kentucky Certificate with proper endorsements.
- Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent or Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS: Director/Producer and Vocal Director
SUPERVISES: Staff as assigned by the Director
JOB GOAL: To serve as the conductor for the spring musical.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for serving as the conductor/contact person for all rehearsal schedules, pit orchestra personnel, instrumentation selection, and any orchestra related issues and requirements on a specific production.
- Responsible for the inventory, maintenance, and return of any music rented or owned during his/her assignment.
- Ensure that all equipment borrowed from the music department will be returned in good working condition.
- Attend auditions and provide input into casting decisions.
- Ensure that the orchestra performance is at a level expected of advanced high school musicians.
- Be responsible for preparing, rehearsing, and coaching the orchestra students after school.
- Responsible for music department equipment such as stands, lights, stand lights, electrical cords, keyboards, percussion equipment, and school owned instruments.
- Responsible for hiring ringers (additional musicians) to inspire the student musicians and to enhance the overall performance.
- Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or the Superintendent.
TERM OF SERVICE: Salary and workdays to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel. |
