CLERICAL ASSISTANT II  (General Assistant)

JOB GOAL:                              To contribute to the efficient operation of a school so that it can play its effective part in the education process.

 

BASIC FUNCTION:                 Perform a variety of responsible clerical duties including typing, filing, and maintaining records or reports in support of a school or District function, including instructional programs, school sites, personnel, mail services, food services, and financial services; apply and explain procedures and policies of assigned program or department.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Performs a variety of clerical duties including typing, filing, record keeping, proofreading, and processing information as assigned.
  2. Maintains attendance and enrollment data, preparing reports and documents as directed.
  3. Receives visitors, answers telephone, or refers telephone calls and visitors to appropriate personnel; answer questions and provide information and directions or explain policies and procedures.
  4. Assists the public and District employees in completing forms, applications and other District, State, and Federal forms and documents.
  5. Schedules and secures substitute personnel. Maintains personnel related records and documents as assigned.
  6. Maintains accurate and up to date records, inventories and files, maintains inventories of assigned materials, documents, and equipment; duplicates and distributes as directed; produces periodic reports, lists and records, enters data as assigned.
  7. Maintains supply and material inventory as required; assists with ordering, receiving, and distributing materials, equipment and supplies according to established procedures; coordinates purchasing efforts with Purchasing department.
  8. Operates a variety of office equipment, such as typewriter, calculator, copiers, computer terminal or microcomputer, provides minor maintenance, works with service providers as assigned.
  9. Provides first aid to ill and injured students as assigned; contacts parents, guardian, nurse or public service agencies in accordance with established guidelines.
  10. Schedules appointments and meetings; prepares facilities for meetings and events, maintains a variety of school schedules.
  11. Sorts and distributes incoming mail, shipments, verifies invoices, and shipping receipts.
  12. Provides and performs health services as directed by Supervisor after receiving appropriate training as required by law.
  13. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal, School Secretary or the Superintendent.

TERM OF SERVICE:              Salary and workdays/jobs to be established by the Board.

                                                provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified

                                                Personnel.
